Fingers Of The Mountain Part 2 Quest Walkthrough And Objectives
Completing the Mages Guild recommendation tasks in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion often leads to intriguing secrets, none more volatile than the follow-up assignment in Chorrol. While resolving the initial dispute over a stolen tome satisfies local guild leader Teekeeus, continuing to assist the rogue mage Earana unlocks a unique reward. Following the Fingers Of The Mountain Part 2 quest line grants adventurous spellcasters access to a legendary Destruction spell.
Starting the Quest and Gathering Requirements
To initiate this second phase, players must ensure that Earana receives the ancient book during or immediately after the Chorrol Recommendation quest. After she spends 24 hours translating the text, she provides her research notes detailing an ancient ritual. Before heading out, players need to secure a single Welkynd Stone from any Ayleid ruin and ensure they know a standard ranged Shock spell.
Reaching the Summit at Cloud Top
With Earana's notes and the necessary components in hand, travel back up the snowy slopes northwest of Chorrol to reach Cloud Top. Upon arriving at the ruined Ayleid pillar site, locate the central charred altar where the book was originally discovered. Stand at a safe distance near the perimeter of the ancient ruin to prepare for the final magical attempt.
Casting the Shock Spell and Surviving the Blast
To trigger the ancient magic, target the central column and cast your Shock spell directly at the stone. A sudden arc of lightning will strike back down from the sky, dealing heavy damage to anyone standing too close. Equipping magical resistance gear or drinking shock protection potions beforehand ensures your character survives this massive elemental strike.
Acquiring the Leveled Spell Reward
Once the blast settles, the spell Finger of the Mountain is permanently added to your spellbook. This Destruction spell scales its damage and magicka requirement based on your character level when completing the event. Securing this unique power represents one of the most memorable elemental secrets hidden throughout the province of Cyrodiil.
